It’s Been A Bumpy Ride
Since we last spoke, it’s continued to be a crazy ride. On top of all the political news, there was a weaker than expected jobs report, the Fed DIDN’T cut interest rates, and the stock market went haywire.
All of a sudden, the state of economy is looming large than ever. In my narrow window of economic insight, I have seen conversion rates on non-essential consumer goods drop, I have seen B2B & B2C brands pull back on marketing spend, and I had an inside look at 3 celebrity endorsed/owned brands that are having serious troubles.
Between the ongoing impacts of inflation wearing away at the US consumer mindset, the attention grabbing headlines of the political arena, and now news stories amping up fear that there is a financial collapse imminent, suffice it to say that we aren’t in a growth market.
However, all of that is MACRO data. Those are big issues that are effecting the economy…you, dear reader, are micro. While issues may weigh heavily on the overall market, the only economic indicators you need to be thinking about are the results that your prospects need and the value that you can deliver. In any single sales opportunity, there is no macro - everything is micro - you can understand and respond to issues and blockers directly without the economy having to turn around.

Google is a monopoly. This is news to exactly no one. For those of you who say “yeah, well Google is better”, they are, but they acted in a monopolistic way by buying their way into defaults on iPhones & Safari and a million other places. There are no remedies in place yet. However, when Microsoft went through their remedies so many years ago, they seemed to come out of it just fine. So I wouldn't weep for the Alphabet guys just yet.
My old friend Richard Chavez from SEO Clarity published an article about SEO & PPC working together. Not totally sexy, but you know, that Google thing is still a pretty good channel.
